K-12 Educator Survey: Generative AI, Learning, and Pedagogical Friction

Generative AI, learning, and the conditions that shape meaningful schoolwork

This study examines how K-12 educators are navigating generative AI in teaching and learning. The survey asks about student thinking, assessment design, classroom practice, school leadership, district policy, and the conditions that help educators preserve meaningful learning.

Participation is voluntary. The landing page does not collect survey answers, names, emails, or device information.

Adults working in a K-12 school or district as a classroom-facing educator, building administrator, or district or system leader

Eligibility: You must be 18 or older and currently work in a K-12 school or district. Employees of Beach Park CCSD 3 are not eligible.

K-12 Educator Survey

The survey takes about 10 to 12 minutes. Most items are rating scales, a few are open-ended, and some appear only for certain roles. You may skip any question. A separate optional form at the end collects an email address only, for people who want to be contacted about an interview. That form is not part of the anonymous survey.

Survey stays closed

The anonymous survey is not open. It will be linked here only after the approved form is live and its anonymity settings are documented.

The survey form will ask participants to identify the role or perspective that best fits their professional work.

This website does not collect, store, or process survey responses. It does not include a database, login, cookies, analytics, or tracking. When you open the survey, you will be directed to an external Microsoft Form where official responses are collected. Please do not include student names, confidential student information, or personally identifiable student data in any open-ended response.

NLU IRB approved the study as Exempt on October 7, 2026 (protocol ER01884), through October 7, 2027. This page does not collect responses. The survey stays closed until the approved form is live. The full consent document will appear as the first screen of the survey and must be agreed to before any item is displayed.

Do I need to be an AI expert?

No. The survey is intended for educators with a range of experience, including those who are new to generative AI.

What if I fit more than one role?

Use the single survey link. The survey form will ask you to identify the role or perspective that best fits your professional work.

Will the website collect my answers?

No. This website only provides study information and links to the official survey form.

Should I name my school, district, students, or colleagues?

No. Please avoid including names or identifiable information in open-ended responses.

Can I share this survey with other educators?

The survey is not open yet. When a public survey invitation is posted, people who see it may pass it along. Please do not send it to named individuals as a personal request.
